Hi I will be staying at the Mirage in Vegas, have you heard of any bed bug problems?
My husband and I stayed at the Quailty Inn in Cincinnati Ohio (800 8th street ) September 18 2010. We checked in around 4:00, just placing our things in the room. We came back around 12:00 and I pull the sheets back on the bed and sat down. When I got up I noticed blood spots on the sheets. The more I looked I saw bedbugs on the comforter, under the sheets and on the pillows. My husband and I hurried up and packed our things and left. I went down stairs to tell the manager what I had found and she would not go up to the room or give me my money back. She said the day manager would call me the next day. It took him 4 days to call me (after I called him everyday) to tell me he does not have bedbugs but it cost him 200.00 to have the room fumigated. So he refuses to refund my money. I called the main headquarters and got NO help from them at all. All I wanted was my money back. So I just wanted people to know that the Quailty Inn has bedbugs and very poor customer service.

I searched a number of online databases back to January 2010 and over 125 comments and found one report of bed bugs at the Holiday Inn Midtown, 440 West 57th Street, New York City, NY 10019. It was from jeniferbrinley, on 5-26-10, “After staying at this hotel on a recent business trip, I returned home covered with bed bug bites.” It is important to always inspect your room carefully.

I searched a number of online databases back to January 2009 with over 350 comments and found three reports of bed bugs at the Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway, At 45th Street, New York City, NY 10036. From TRChicago on 9-2-10, “Great Service and Bedbugs!”; charlie2040 on 8-1-10, “our son developed an itch which we thought was a rash or allergic reaction. I had a similar slight itch. When we came home, I noticed a few bites in my legs. And now, one week later, the bite marks keeping getting worse. I believe we brought back some bed bugs with us”; and SR32 on 1-8-09, “Our stay at this hotel was unfortunately ruined by the bed bug infestation in our room”.

I reviewed several online databases and found one report of bed bugs at the Lodge of Four Seasons, Horseshoe Bend Parkway, P.O. Box 215, Lake Ozark, MO 65049. It was from acbw, on 9-16-10, “when we were about to go to sleep, we saw a bug crawl on the bed. I happened to move the mattress and there must have been 20 bed bugs clumped together; called the front desk/maintenance insisted they were NOT bed bugs, but they were; upgraded us to another room in a brand new building and a free breakfast. While they handled the situation well, I will NEVER stay there again.”

My friend and I checked into Whiskey Pete’s on Friday, October 15, 2010 at about 4:30 PM. We were assigned to room #110 right near the registration desk. We were in town for the AKC dog show and Whiskey Pete’s was listed as the “host hotel”. We unpacked all of our belongings (as well as our 4 show dogs) and went to dinner. When we got ready for bed, I noticed a bug on the sheet of my bed – I took a tissue to remove the bug and it exploded blood on the sheet. I was disgusted, but didn’t think much more about it. About 10 minutes later, I noticed another, much smaller bug on the pillow – when I removed this one, it also left a small speck of blood on the pillow. Upon further investigation, we saw about 4 more of the bugs on the wall behind the bed. We immediately called the front desk and asked that someone come to our room to examine the bugs. After a 10 minute wait, I grew impatient and took one of the bugs in a tissue to the front desk. I spoke with Seth Balaban who was the supervisor on duty. He looked at the bug and said that he would move us to another room (room #4001). At that same time, my friend had stayed back in the room and continued to find more bugs near my bed — a total of about 20 were counted by her. A lady from housekeeping came into the room and verified the bugs to my friend and called them in on the radio to Seth while I was standing at the front desk.
We were given the key to room 4001 — this was now about 11:45 pm and they did not offer to help us move, nor even offer a bell cart to help with the move. The next day, both my friend and I noticed a few possible bites on our legs and stomach, and since we were very dissatisfied with the way the situation was handled — we also filed a report with their risk management department the next day — the gentlemen from that department were very sympathetic and took photos of the bites on my legs and the bite on my friend’s stomach — they said we could call back to check on the status of the report. After several conversations with Seth, he finally agreed to not charge us for one of our night’s stays…but he refused to credit us the other night.
I have since called several times to follow up on the report and was told today by Paula Kitchel (sp?) in risk management that there were no bugs in the room. This is a complete lie, as two of their employees verified the bugs that first night that we were there. I have had to purchase a new suitcase and have spent several hours washing and drying everything that I took on that trip. Needless to say, I will never be returning to that hotel again…and I would like others to know of my experience…the fact that there were bed bugs was terrible, but their lack of customer service just escalates the situation.

I stayed at the British Hotel in Valetta Malta Room 217 and by the end of 10 days stay had bad bites, did not know what they were until I checked online at home.

I checked several databases, dating back to 1-2010, and over 500 various comments. It is a challenge not to find any reports of bed bugs when researching hotels in Las Vegas. I would suggest inspecting your room thoroughly and reviewing our bedbug checklist page.

I can confirm that I have found several reports of bedbugs at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109. This is out of several hundred various comments dating back to January 2010. They all complain of bites and rashes. I cannot check room numbers. Here’s an example from HotelGuest9999, dated 5-17-10, “Our room had bedbugs which bit us up terribly while we slept, and we had to be moved twice as a result; they took 12 hours to have all of our clothes sprayed, and that meant we were stuck in Vegas covered with bites and without a change of clothes.” We just received a report this morning also “Hi, My husband and I just returned from a week’s vacation at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. 2 days later I was itching and now have what appears to be many small bites on my torso, back and front, but no welts.”

I found one report of bed bugs at the Miramar Hotel, 2345 Kuhio Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96815-2996. It was from jgrandsts, on 1-28-10, “Terrible hotel. We woke up in the middle of the night by bed bugs bitting us. We captured about 4 of them and took them to the front desk. They responded with “the rooms had a problem before but no one complained lately”. They moved us to another room.”

I did some research on the Portland Square Hotel 132 W 47th St, NYC 10036 for reports of bed bugs. I found one report where they brought them home and have been struggling with them. My husband and I just returned from a week’s vacation at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. 2 days later I was itching and now have what appears to be many small bites on my torso, back and front, but no welts. My husband is fine. I was wondering if you’ve had any reports on the Venetian, and if it’s possible that only one of us was bitten given that we shared the same bed. I should also mention that we’ve now been home in our bed for the past 5 nights and he’s not showing any signs of being bitten.

I searched for reports of bedbugs on many online databases for the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 , and found one report since 12-09 out of over 260 comments. It was from Raquelita27, on 4-8-10 “Dont recommend to stay here at all.They charge for water, no coffee or tea. Bed Bugs, leaky faucet in bathroom, Sink plugger would not hold up with the lever so we took it out to lay on the counter. Was not worth staying if you want to enjoy your Las Vegas trip. Complained about our room and supervisor didnt want to help with any of the issues. Wasnt close to the strip, and there was nothing I liked at all about this hotel.”
Sometimes, you just don’t know how credible these reports are. I’m not saying they’re not being truthful but you never know good or bad. I would always suggest inspecting your room and seeing the bedbug checklist page on this site.

Hello.. i stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge in Pa. twice within the last 3 months. I came home itchy both times and i had some bites but not sure they were bed bugs. I went through my suitcase today after it sitting in my room for almost a month and low and behold found a dead bedbug. Oh My God! is all i can say. I am thouroughly going through EVERYTHING now. I don’t see any in my home mattresses or haven’t seen one out of the suitcase but it is scary enough. It was dead but didn’t look that old, it can be about a month old and was a big one! I am going to call Great wolf and ask them to inspect the two rooms i was last in.

I checked a number of online databases and found no current reports of bed bugs at the Handlery Union Square Hotel, San Francisco. I would suggest that you inspect your room thoroughly no matter where you stay. We have some useful information on our bedbug checklist page. I would agree that perhaps calling and speaking to mgmt. may be helpful. Chances are good they are aware of the 2007 report and have already investigated and have some type of policy in place to handle bed bugs. It can’t hurt to double check.

I searched a number of online databases for reports of bed bugs at the Best Western Turnpike West-Orlando – 10945 W Colonial Drive US Ocoee, Florida, 34761-2943, United States, and did not find any. Some hotels don’t have a ton of info out there because they don’t have as high of a turnover as, say New York or Las Vegas.

On 8-10-10 c posted this report on this site “Just got back from The Mirage Las Vegas and wish I had seen this before I went. I woke up every day with new bites. I thought perhaps they were flea bites, but after seeing all the reports of bed bug infestations on the rise, I now suspect the latter. Thought I should share with other users.” I also found at lease one other current report 7-2-10 of bed bugs at the Hotel Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89109.

Handlery Hotel in San Francisco. I have read a report on one incident at this hotel back in 2007. Have you heard

Unfortunately, I found one report of bed bugs at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, 350 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43215. It was from atlguy096, on 8-22-10, “After first night, woke up my legs were itching. Same thing after the 2nd night. After the third night I woke up in the morning and my arms had red bite marks and they itched like crazy. From doing research/finding out in the news that Columbus hotels have been infested with bed bugs, I believe the bites/itching on my arms/legs were from bed bugs. I am leaving this review as a warning for potential travelers to Columbus, OH to be very careful; let the hotel know immediately at any sign of bed bugs in your room.” As always, it is very important to inspect your room no matter where you stay; see our bedbug checklist page for helpful information.

For example: Stepsi, on 9-13-10. “First night there woke up scratching my body to find myself full of little bumps all over, rash like and when we complained they did NOTHING!!!”; and lilacsanddoves, on 8-3-10 “Spent a week in a classic room and did not see any bugs, but since our return home, we have found bugs in our suitcase and in the area we unpacked.” I did find others.

I searched for reports of bed bugs at the Hilton at 1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY, and found some. I have mixed reviews here I viewed at least 300 comments and found about 4-5; however, I also found many reports of individuals who thoroughly inspected their rooms and found nothing. There may be some rooms infected and some rooms not. This is a good reason to always inspect your room thoroughly upon arrival. Please review our bedbug checklist page.

It was from jeniferbrinley, on 5-26-10, “After staying at this hotel on a recent business trip, I returned home covered with bed bug bites.” It is important to always inspect your room carefully.

I searched a number of online databases back to January 2009 with over 350 comments and found three reports of bed bugs at the Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway, At 45th Street, New York City, NY 10036. From TRChicago on 9-2-10, “Great Service and Bedbugs!”; charlie2040 on 8-1-10, “our son developed an itch which we thought was a rash or allergic reaction. I had a similar slight itch. When we came home, I noticed a few bites in my legs. And now, one week later, the bite marks keeping getting worse. I believe we brought back some bed bugs with us”; and SR32 on 1-8-09, “Our stay at this hotel was unfortunately ruined by the bed bug infestation in our room”.
