My daughter and I stayed on the 2nd floor of the La Quinta Inn in Port Arthur, TX August 20-22nd. Address- 7540 Memorial Blvd Port Arthur, TX 77640. I had heard of bed bugs but never experienced them. This is the only traveling i’ve done in over 2 years. Within 1 1/2 weeks of my return and i’ve started getting bitten and sure enough- Bed Bugs.
Can you check to see if there have been any complaints recently about bed bugs in any condo units called Crescent Shores located in North Myrtle Beach, SC? Thanks!

Hi, I was looking at your site and noticed that my original question has disappeared. We are going to the Marriot Gateway on the Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario in a couple of days and am wodering if you have heard of any reports of Bed Bugs there or any information in this regard. The address there is 6755 Fallsview Blvd. It used to be the Sheraton Fallsview a year ago. I did see 1 bed bug report on the internet in November 2010, do you know of anything since then? Do you think it is a problem?

We are staying at the Montecito Inn in Santa Barbara this coming weekend. Have you heard any reports of bedbugs ever showing up there? My husband hotwired a hotel in Stuart, FL this weekend. He stayed at the Clarion and is covered in bites. Fortunately, he didn’t bring his suitcase inside the hotel, just the clothes on his back. I am still worried he brought them home. Stayed one night at Best Western Tree house Inn in Mt Shasta CA 8/15/11. Although I checked the bed, the next day I had bites on my back and chest in typical 3 pattern. As I progressed in my travels , did not get any more bites. When I got home I called the manager and he said he would have the maid check.He called back and said I must have gotten them from my own home!!! I know this is not the case. Apparently he is not going to rectify the situation!!!
We stayed at the Super 8 in Wenatchee, WA. Room 312 on Aug. 26, 2011. While reading in bed we found at least 5 bedbugs, some full adult, some smaller. We hightailed out of there. Front desk claimed to never have had any complaints.

About a half hour into reading, I noticed a red beetle like bug on the cover and went to kill it then realized what it was. We quickly discovered 5 more near pillows and elsewhere on the bed – some were smaller than the initial one I spotted. We told the front desk and were reimbursed our money, we then left the hotel. They claimed to not have had any complaints of bedbugs before.
I am traveling from the Midwest to California with my 9 yr. old g-daughter in Sept. to meet my half brother for the 1st time in my life. He lives in a small trailer court, and doesn’t have a bed for me, so I booked a motel for the 1st 4 days of my trip. Cost is a concern because our 2 airfares are almost $1000.00 so I can’t afford a 5-Star motel.
I checked for motels in close proximity to my brother’s address and the most affordable one I found was a Motel 6. (I know that sounds bad right off the bat), but the booking agent assured me they did not have bed bugs. However, now that I have found this site, I thought I would post the address of the Motel 6 so you could check the database for any former reports. 3145 Cleveland Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA is the address of the Motel 6.
The rates are very reasonable, but it sure would not be worth bringing BED BUGS home just to save a few hundred dollars on the front end, only to have to pay hundreds to get rid of them if I would be so unfortunate to bring them home with me. If you would be so kind to check this Motel 6 for me, I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you. (worried in Iowa)…

Please tell me if you have heard anything about the Cancun Palace Resort in Cancun having bedbugs, there are 11 of us going over christmas and it is a non refundable trip. Expensive I would nver have thought about it but just read about some great Las Vegas Hotels that have bed bugs and they encourage you to check

on labor day weekend. I have come across only 1 possible bed bug report about this hotel back in Nov 2010 on TripAdvisor, but the traveler also stayed at another hotel, and never reported any bites – just that there was an subsequent infestation at their house.

After reviewing several online databases I found two reports of bedbugs at the Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport, 6225 W Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. From Anonymous, 7-1-11, and Davidps28, 4-17-11, Both stating that bedbugs are present. I also found a rebuttal from the hotel with a total explanation of their policy regarding bedbugs. You may want to call them to follow up. Always inspect your room thoroughly.

I am in a hotel right now. The days inn in long island city queens… Just woke up to use the bathroom. Bedbug found crawling across the sheet. I caught it and sealed it in a plastic bag. I will talk to management in the morning. I am supposed to stay tomorrow but do not want to now

I saw two reviews on Booking.com and one review on Yelp.com citing bed bug bites (this was after I booked the hotel) and was wondering if this hotel has a widespread problem or if it is a room by room incident.

I reviewed multiple online databases and found one report of bedbugs at the Seneca Hotel and Suites, 200 East Chestnut in Chicago. It was from Iec198260763, 8-9-11, “Seneca had been infested with bed bugs”; having provided that info this individual had numerous other complaints not related to BBs. All I can do is look up the info I cannot legitimize any reports. It is important to always inspect your room thoroughly wherever you may stay – please review our bedbug checklist page.

I review various online databases to find reports/reviews complaining of bedbugs. I found several reports/reviews for the Rio Suite Hotel and Casino, 3700 West Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89103. Keep a couple of things in mind. When you go to large, highly traveled areas there are thousands of visitors and hundreds of reports/reviews to go through. Also, they have many rooms and wherever you stay you should always inspect your room. You may wish to inquire at the hotel regarding their policy.

From Anonymous on 7-18-11, “it was a bed bug coming out of the sheet.”; Kerrie Gibbs on 6-6-11, “a reaction to bites which were probably bed bugs”; and TKO on 4-1-11, ” in his professional opinion the hotel in NYC is where we got the bedbugs”. My husband and i had to cut out vacation short because we both were eaten up by bed bugs, We stayed at the Holiday Terrace Inn,in Pigeon Forge TN< we both have over 200 bites on us and were there only three days,we were in room 101. We went to the Dr and he said its what it was.

hi, i just got bed bug bites at the hotel yun’s paradise (how ironic!) in shanghai china. please warn everyone traveling there. the hotel denied that their fault which makes me think that they’re not going to do anything about it. we checked out immediately and demanded refund for our one night there but to no avail. i’m going to report to expedia where we booked our rooms and see if they will pursue this serious problem that the hotel is ignoring. does anyone know long long these bites last and if there’s a site where we can report all the instances so other travelers can be warned? i hate these bugs!!!

I just stayed at the Days Inn in Biscoe NC and found bed bugs in our bed on the second night. I moved to another hotel but didn’t want to spread the bugs so I washed and dryed all our clothes and scrubbed my suitcase with antibacterial clothes. After I got to the new place I put my luggage in the bathroom and unloaded all my clothes again, gave them all a good shake, and put them in the drawers and hung what I could. Then I wiped the luggage down two more times with the antibacterial clothes and ran the blow dryer all over it for 15 minutes. It now resides on the luggage rack. Can I feel safe now? I have also pulled the sheets back and run my hands all over the mattress, edges, etc. at the new motel.

Hi, needing a hotel in San Diego to take my kids to sea-world and legoland, the hotel that was booked for us has numerous report sof bed bugs (Wyndham gardens) so don’t want to stay there. Wanted a fun nice hotel and thought about paradise point ut found one report there also even though when I called them the guy said they don’t have a problem and no reports. So now am thinking about the courtyard by Marriott airport/liberty station one….nothing bad that I can find so far????? but doesn’t look like anything real nice either? I’m staying at the gateway inn in graham texas. I found bites on my arms, neck, and legs today. We have been staying here 11 days now n they have moved us to 4 rooms cause of the ac units going out. My man had bites all over him but we had thought it was fiber glass from his work. I didn’t break out until this morning. I can’t tell if there is anything in the room. The manager said we must of brought them cause they have a guy that gets ride of them I was blown away by her reaction. She said the bug man will b here Wednesday. I’m freaked out. They won’t move us, won’t give us our money back and act like its our fault. I have never dealt with this before. Can anyone help?

I’d ask to speak to management, tell them what you found and that you are concerned. Ask the manager to make sure you get a bed bug free room and that you’re going to trust that you’ll have nothing to worry about and that you’ll post a report of your concern and great experience when done. I’m confident they will make sure your room is sanitized :)
I am going to be staying at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott this coming week for a conference and I saw one report on the Bed Bug Registry from one person at the end of July and not another report for a year before that. Should I be worries and switch hotels? Or am I overreacting? The hotel already has been paid for so it would be a hassle to get them to refund it but I do NOT want to deal with bed bugs. Thanks!

After returning home from a 3 night stay at the Hampton Inn in Clovis, NM, I have spotted 2 bed bugs in plain sight. One was in a shirt laying on the floor near my closet after a shower and the other crawling on a blanket the kids slept on in the living room floor. I am terrified that we have brought them home from the hotel. We have only been home for 3 days and I’m wondering the best way to keep from getting an infestation. Also wondering if there are any reports of bed bugs at that specific hotel or if they came from the house where my stepchildren live since it is a fact that that apartment has been infested for months (although I have never seen any in our home before this week)

The Best Western Hotel Henry in Beaune, France.
Stayed there one night in July 2011 and upon awakening found ourselves bitten with numerous dead and live bugs in the bed. I brought a zip-loc bag of dead and live bug to the front desk. Do not stay at this hotel-you will get bitten and not receive a refund.

Use food grade Diatomaceous earth (they call this bed bug dust) mixed with water in a spray bottle, it will be just as good as any bug spray and is safe. Just make sure it’s food grade – this is a secret that pest control companies would rather you not know about! And, this works for killing bed bugs around the home as well – completely safe!
Can you recommend a good non-flammable, safe (or organic) bed bug spray for luggages that won’t leave an odor on contents? And for that matter, do you believe bed bug sprays are actually effective on luggage especially when traveling by plane for a week or more?

Beware of BEDBUGS!!! Stayed on the 6th floor of Kansas City Airport Marriott on July 24, 2011. Received 5 bites on my left ankle and inner shin & 12 bites on my right foot, ankle, and outer shin. These bites are extremely itchy and I had to call in sick to work because wearing shoes makes them inflamed, irritated, and intensely itchy. I know these are bedbug bites b/c my doctor says they follow the linear pattern and the number in each cluster. This is an bed bug infested hotel, check for yourself as I am not the first to encounter bedbugs here!!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Hotel Des Arenes in Pais. after the first night my wife noticed a few bumps on her arm and thought it was a reaction to soap or something. The second night she woke up and was covered in bites and we found a few bugs on the bed (even thought we had checked before the first night. I slept right beside her and had not a single bite, is this possible that they only attack 1 person and not the other. her legs and feet look horrible now.

I stayed at the Ramada Inn in Roanoke, VA. The address is 1927 Franklin Rd SW Roanoke, VA. I woke up this morning with both arms and my neck and face covered in bed bug bites. It is worse on my arms than anywhere else.
The manager was not receptive to the complaint. He told the front desk person that he would refund me tonight’s room if the exterminator confirms there were bedbugs. I left the hotel and stayed somewhere else.

I actually had a bout with bed bugs back in 2007 and have maintained a bite free existence since then. But, of course, I now scrutinize my hotel decisions normally and don’t stay anywhere with any past record of bed bugs. But, this past weekend, I made an impromptu decision to stay at a hotel in Stamford, Connecticut when I got a great deal on a deal website.
It was the Hilton Stamford (which was the Westin until 2010, I think). I didn’t think twice about the hotel since it was a Hilton. Today, I was looking up a hotel I am thinking about staying in and saw reports for this Hilton Stamford that bed bugs were there up until April. Have you happened to hear anything more recently or about their cleaning it up? Any peace of mind would be greatly appreciated! Great website!
We recently took a trip from Detroit, MI to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Our route took us on Highway 402 through Strathroy, Ontario. We stayed 1 night at the Strathroy Motor Inn located at 28540 Centre Road, Ontario, Canada. I located a ton of black specks on the box spring which in fact is bed bug fecal matter. This terrified me nevertheless, travelers beware.

We are staying at Relax Inn in Tyler, Texas 75702 and this past tuesday i started getting these bumps on my back and within days they progress to my arms, hands, and legs well this morning when i woke my boyfriend up for work i noticed a bug crawling on my green pillow and sure enough its a bedbug.

night in this hotel 7/6/11 Woke up with 3 bites on the back of my arm. When I got back to Phoenix AZ I kept waking up with bites. I thought I wrote to you last week but don’t see my comments so…
I stayed at the Ardsley Acres in Ardsley, NY on 7/11-13. On the second night I got bit. I’ve stayed there a number of times in the last year for work. The place always looks clean and I never had trouble before. “Dave” in the office was very responsive when I told him. He said he was closing the room, stopping the Maid Service and having his exterminator inspect the room. When I got home, I showered in the barn with rubbing alcohol, then flea shampoo, then some nicer stuff. Burned my clothes, shoes and suitcase. Stuff I could fit into a gallon sized ziplock bag was sprayed with alcohol and run thru my oven overnight at 225 degrees. I’m very sure (praying actually) that none of them got into my house. But now I’m dealing with the darn itching…cortisone and benadryl cream give a little relief, but I read on your site today to use the old Bee Sting remedy of a baking powder paste…its a cheap fix but my experience with it has been use it immediately for best results or don’t get your hopes up. Now, I have some redness at the site(s) and they look like large mosquito bites, no swelling. Based on the level of reaction I’m describing, would you say the itching should (please God) become more manageable soon? It’s been almost a week…

I typically go back six months and the one report I found was from last May, 2011. I cannot say if they really have bedbug problems. I can say that you need to be careful wherever you may stay – you never know if BB’s have been introduced at any given time. You can call the hotel and inquire regarding their policy and always inspect your room.

My family and I stayed at The Metropolitan Express Hotel, International Drive, Orlando, Florida, in April where I was badly bitten by bedbugs.
The beds are made daily though certainly not washed so these should have been spotted by anyone pulling the bed slightly away from the wall.
After suffering for more than a week and getting worse by the day with what I didn’t know were bedbug bites until my daughters came out with spots too, I complained. We were allocated a different room though left to move late at night with no help and three sleepy children.
We had to personally wash all our belongings to prevent further contamination in the one washing machine that worked in the laundry, which took quite some time.
I was told by the manager that they had a previous outbreak on the ground floor so would have expected the staff to be more vigilant.
I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Manchester, NH on Thursday, July 14, 2011, room 19, and got numerous bedbug bites. The hotel clerk denied that they were bedbugs, which told me he didn’t know anymore that I did about them.
I have had a severe allergic reaction and had to go to the doctor. I am on steroids and antihistimines now, and will have aftereffects for 4-6 weeks, from what my doctor said. I actually saved the bugs, as I had never seen one before and didn’t even know for sure that these critters were bedbugs until I checked online.

I don’t know if you are concerned with reports from hotels outside the USA, but I would like to report Valentine’s Motel in Apia, Samoa (room 5). I had a sleepless night there which may have had causes other than bed bugs – for one thing I was kept awake by the thought that the pillowslips smelt unwashed, possibly the sweet smell I’ve just read about that’s associated with bed bugs. I also had an attack of allergic sneezing for the first time in my life (I was in a room without aircon on a tropical island and definitely not cold), which lasted all night and into the morning, and a dry tickling sensation in my throat that made me cough – are these possible symptoms? The next day I had what looked like two large pimples on my side – close together, raised and tender to touch, and with an angry red welt about 2cm in radius surrounding them. I also have a tender spot in the same area with no bite mark or redness with it but there seems to be a lumpyness under the skin.
I have had a casual diagnosis from a retired doctor that the “pimples” are bites. After looking up bed bugs on the net I believe at least that the bites are from bed bugs. I would be interested to know if the other symptoms are known to be associated with bed bugs too.

Help! A few years ago we had to take a room in nisku, Alberta, Canada, we found the room absolutely infested (thousands) health officer said it’s the worst he’s ever seen. Thank god I found out just after I laid down, my hubby had got in bed before me (10 min) but I’m a fidgety sleeper so I’d only been in for maybe another 10 before I opened my eyes and saw it on my pillow, jumped out of bed and flicked on a light and threw back covers. My hubby was literally surrounded! We jumped in the shower and threw away a lot of our stuff so didn’t bring them home. I’m scarred for life and we have to go to Columbus Ohio in a few weeks, I’m terrified since I’ve recently discovered this city has a major infestation problem. Do you know of a hotel that’s safe? Don’t care how much it costs as long as it’s bug free (shudder).

I am traveling to Ohio this week and will be staying at the Courtyard Columbus Airport – 2901 Airport Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43219. Any major infestations?

Do you have any reports or info about the Residence Inn Pittsburgh (University/Medical Center)? I need to stay there, and do not want any “friends” in the room, or coming home with me.

Hi, I just read a review of a guest about bed bugs at Quality Inn & Suites located at 440 Bedford Street, Lexington, MA 02420in Lexington, MA in March of 2011. I am going to stay at the same hotel for three nights from August 10-August 13 and wonder how I can confirm that the bed bugs problem there no longer exists. Thanks!!

We have read that the Wellington Hotel in NYC, 871 7th Ave at W 55th St has had issues with bedbugs. I saw your reply in April 2011 that they were addressing the problem. We are considering staying there this December. Can you advise of the current status of this problem? Thank you.

Thanks for the confirmation. I also saw that report on trip advisor. I stayed there last week, and I am pretty sure I brought those little buggers in my luggage here to my apartment in NY. Problem is I have not found any bed bugs. The pest control person came and did his first treatment,but he also found no bed bugs. I have bites EVERYWHERE and they look like bed bug bites from pictures I have seen. I am FREAKING OUT. I feel so dirty and paranoid that something will crawl on me and bite me again at night. This is a horrible experience. Sorry for venting here, but I really can’t believe this happened. Thanks again for your help. Maria

I reviewed several online databases for reports of bedbugs at the Anchorage Inn, Route 1A, Long Beach Avenue, York Beach, ME 03910. I found only the same one which you refer to. We always suggest inspecting your room thoroughly – you just never be too safe.
