Hi Charlene,

Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Mexico Resort (All-Inclusive), Playa Paraiso

Iberostar Paraiso del Mar,
Carrt. Chetumal-Pto. Juarez km. 309
Playa Paraiso 77710 , Mexico

4796Maddy from TripAdvisor on 3/2011 left a complaint about bed bugs and a dirty room. NittanyLionLuv also complained about bugs on 10/10 stating "2star hotel on 5 star grounds" there were bugs in the rooms. Ryan M on 8/11 titled "Honestly the best policy? Okay here we go" stated that he found 5 big bugs on the bed, and then late at night in the bathroom - $1463.00 for two people round trip to a hotel with bad service, bug and bad food is a bit much. kcandalex2 left a complaint of "Beware of the Biting Bugs" that were not your typical mosquito bites on 7/11 and the last one I found before stopping my search was by Redreb on 11/2010 titled "Bats Bats and more bats!" which complained about brown bats or some kind of bat that had a 10-12 wingspan, but did go on to say that there were no bed bugs. I'd read this review in detail before staying.

Many, many of the comments talked about bugs outside and many recommended bringing your own spray due to the price they charge at the hotel.

Hi Sam,

Found a few complaints, one from haplo888 on 12/11 at TripAdvisor titled "Dirty, bugs, avoid!" stating they found dead bugs in their bed but didn't specify what type of bug. Another was complaint was found by Boston on 10/2010 titled "Horrid, dirty, bugs, avoid!".

The last one was on Travel.yahoo from 7/26/09 titled "Beware of bugs!" and found a bug in the bed when they first arrived, then later at night.

The two I found on TripAdvisor seems to me like it's the same person and for them to report their complain a year later under a different alias seems vindictive, so if it was me, I would disregard that complaint.

The other was from 2009 and is too far back. Note that none of them mentioned bed bugs, rather bugs. I'd simply let management know that you are concerned with bed bugs and I'm guessing they will go out of their way to make sure you taken care of :)

We're planning a trip to the Grand Canyon for April, and the only reserveable rooms are at:

Yavapai Lodge
1 Main St.
Grand Canyon National Park, AZ 86023

Any information of bed bugs there would be much appreciated.

I had stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holiday and brought back some blood suckers. I know for a fact that they are bed bugs, judging my the pictures i see on this site. So I don't think i have very many of them. i killed the ones i spotted by pouring rubbing alcohol on them and squishing them and throwing them down the toilet.

Judging by the bite pictures I am sure i don't have that many maybe 10 or 20 at best. I am sick of them and i hope they don't pass any parasites to me and my husband. We live in an old apartment building so I am sure they could have come from anywhere! A friend of mine said you can pass them on to other people. Is that true?

I mean they are called bed bugs for a reason, they live in beds and couches and home furniture so how can they stay on someones body all day? especially without you noticing? This is the filthy hotel that needs to be exterminated. It was nice and big but still filthy, dirty moldy sheets piled in the hallway. It is call something else now I have no idea why they keep changing the name of it.

It's the Midwest Hotel in Burbank and they have shut down so many times it's not even funny anymore. 5001 West 79th Street, Burbank, IL 60459, (708) 581-7390

If you look at tripadvisor, you'll see many negative reviews, such as "Mice in Lobby...Literally" by Detroit on 1/16/2012, or "Roach Hotel" by dll2007 on May 15, 2011. The list goes on!

No, unfortunately, I don't know of any law that requires hotels to report bed bug infestations, but it would be nice, wouldn't it? The only way to find out if there was an incident is through reviews such as what we are doing now.

Thanks for your reply! I've called this hotel about the issues I've read. They said they follow a specific protocol for inspecting and treating, but have not had any incidents. In fact. The GM seemed miffed that the suspicion was raised. I plan to call again before we travel.

Are hotels required to report incidents to state agencies?

Thanks for all you do to inform us!

Hi Diane,

The only complaint I found was on May 27, 2011 by Canuckfromflorida on TripAdvisor titled “Unable to follow my Mother's advice: "don't let the bed bugs bite"” concerning the Fairfield Inn Market Center Dallas, Texas who stated arms were covered in bites in the morning and thought it could be bed bugs or scabies; advice by commenter was to inspect everything in the room, especially the mattress, before you spend the night.

Hope that helps.

Hey Ellen,

Do you have pictures, and how did the appointment go? Were they indeed hotel bedbugs?
