Hello community, I had a big problem with bed bugs within my building in Scarborough. I had three treatments done, and nothing seemed to be working; I took it upon myself to research everything I can about those pesky little bugs and tested several products to fix the problem.

With the right products and cleaning I finally fixed my problem; I didn't use the exterminator. I instead used boiled hot water finding the nest's and literally wiped them cleaned all around my apartment every corner. Once I finished the main clean up, I used 2 products which I purchased at Home Hardware. First I used the spray all around the main feeding spots killing whatever I found, then spread the powder around my home. After two days myself and husband hasn't been bitten and never found any since, this was three years ago.

We are bedbug free and to this day I keep the powder down in a very discreet manner. This works and great for low income families, it takes a lot of elbow grease and time but in the long run it has been a proven bed bug stopper.

Okay... funding is good! But they say that this issue is bigger than the issue since World War II! Wow! The battle against bed bugs is bigger than we think. I urge people to take caution. I don't even want to go to the library anymore! Yikes! And there are a lot of people who just don't care. I know someone who has bed bugs, is not doing the right things, won't tell the job, or call the health department. Literally making it seem like it is not that bad. And then what about people who are taking their clothes to the cleaners? I saw on a morning show that taking your clothing to the cleaners is not a good idea! Those bugs crawl and can easily get on the bodies and clothing of the workers and are transferred to others cleaned clothing because they are being handled by workers who touched the bed bug ridden clothing and then yours. Quarantine yourself as much as possible!

I didn't realize how much of a problem this was until I saw all the marks on my grandson's stomch and my son's been taking him to his doctor about the rush his gotten, when I talked to my landlord about the problem I was told that the exterminator informed her that it 's just now become a problem even tho we didn't have that problem at another house we were renting. The reason why we didn't know what we were dealing with was because we've never seen bedbugs. She was also told that they don't live that long so they couldn't have been there before.

I relate to these people and their stories. I've had a very similar situation just happen to me, in fact, it's still happening and I am so frustrated and don't know what my next step is.

I have been getting bitten for approx 5 months, believing that it was an allergic reaction to a new laundry detergent I was using. But the marks were on my upper arms and it was not affecting my 5 year old son. One morning at about 4:30, I woke up and turned the light on. When I returned from the bathroom, my boyfriend and I saw small bug crawling across my bed. He killed it and it was full of blood. My blood.

As strange as it may seem, I had been getting bit, while my boyfriend never did once. Anyway, we slept on the sofa that night. In the morning we inspected my bed further and discovered 2 bed bugs on the mattress, and 2 on the box spring. I checked my son's bed and as soon as I lifted the fitted sheet, I discovered 3 bed bugs!! I completely freaked out. Since it was Sunday, I couldn't do anything. I waited until the morning, went to my management office (I rent an apartment) and they supposedly felt for me and told me what a serious issue this is and that they will call their exterminator and have it taken care of immediately. They also said that they will need to inform all of the residents in the building so that they can be aware of any bed bugs in their unit.

The next day they sent our the exterminator who BARELY fumigated. He did not spray inside of the walls as I was told would be done. The next day I called Orkin ($450 for the initial treatment!) and they treated inside of the walls and all of my furniture. All of this time I was not staying in my apt. I moved my son and I into my boyfriends apt, carefully packing everything and washing it in a laundromat. We stayed for 3 weeks in his apt because I wanted to wait for 4 treatments to be done before moving back.

I threw out my sons bed and my box spring. I did keep my bed because I knew that I could cover it with a mattress encasement and any living bed bugs in the mattress would die over time. I was okay with that. I covered both beds with a mattress encasement and had a company steam clean and sanitize my carpet ($235). I just moved back 3 nights ago and was fine until my boyfriend found one on my wall, then this morning there was one in my bed. They were both babies. The exterminator just came out a couple of hours ago and we found 7 LIVING bed bugs!!!!!! 2 between my box spring and mattress and the rest on the wall.

I can't believe that I am incurring these costs especially since I don't know where these bugs came from. I also took it upon myself to inform all tenants in my building of what was going on and to be alert. I did not do this to be spiteful to the management company but to let the tenants know, as I would like to be made aware if a neighbor of mine was in the same situation.

Hello... WOw... this site is real nice for people who are dealing with these disgusting little creatures! ughhh.. These bugs have Completely taken over my family's life! its me, my husband and my two little girls!... We live in an apartment building and Found out that we have bed bugs... my husband has been getting bit more than me but for 2 months now! and we couldn't figure it out! we checked our mattresses and everything! bought 2 brand new pairs of sheets thinking maybe it was a reaction... but no STILL getting bit!

we FINNNAALLLYYY saw a bug on the bed... our apartment has been treated 3 times now! gosh! i am ready for my life to get back to order now!!!... we had to throw our furniture away! our beds and mattresses... ours and the girls!!!... Before disposing of everything we bought mattress covers and still we woke up to bugs... we bought the diatomaceous earth and put that everywhere in our place.. left and returned maybe a week later...

NOW we have it just around the edges like by the wood work. We have only seen about 2 bugs but baby ones... and one was in the bathroom!... we have been sleeping on air mattresses and have not really been getting much sleep! For all of you who have had this problem, you all know it is such a psychological thing as well. I was told and don't know how true it is, but I heard that i can contact my apartment companys insurance providor and file a claim for my losses....

Who would want something that bugs were crawling all over? and living in? uggghhhh eewwww who would have known a little bug could stress you out so much and make you so emotional! I was told that if your management pays for extermination services that they are pretty much taking responsibility for the problem? any one know if this is true or have had a problem similar to mine? i have lost around $2,000.00 worth of things and money!

Any thoughts will help! Thanks

Itchy and scratchy!!!!!!!!!!!!
